Why I built Everyone Is Gifted

I spent my career in cognitive science, helping schools and ed-tech teams apply research on how people learn best. When I became a mom, I asked myself:  How do I use that science for my life as mom with a career? What can it help me with in the everyday moments outside of work with my children? I paid careful attention to all the tiny, joyful things we do as moms—conversations at home and in the car, bathtime, telling stories at dinner, bedtime—and watched what actually moved the needle for kids in big ways: richer language, steadier attention, calmer days, more curiosity. Discovering which of the strategies that science said should work actually did work—and led to the biggest benefits—let me focus on what what mattered and drop the rest.

I was lucky to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with leading researchers while raising my kids. Now I'm here to share these tips and shortcuts so families can enjoy the good stuff—without competitive parenting stress, without pressure for overloaded calendars, and without advice that may be well-intentioned but can crush creativity and motivation.

 

Why did I call it: Everyone Is Gifted?

  • Because everyone is born with a truly amazing brain.
  • We know so much from the science of learning about how to help everyone's brain flourish.
  • When someone's brain flourishes, their own unique gifts shine brilliantly.
  • I want more moms to know more about how to give their child the best stress-free experiences for developing their own kind of brilliance.

  • Care is the curriculum. Emotional connection and love is fuel for language, attention, and memory.

  • No guilt, no perfection. Good-enough rhythms are powerful and more realistic than perfect plans.
